Hisaronu/ Ovacik

A 10 minute drive from Fethiye will take you to a high plateau 4km from the coast and surrounded by stunning mountains, the once sleepy villages of Hisaronu and Ovacik have combined to create a lively resort which has a distinctly British atmosphere. Well known for its genuine fakes, this is certainly the place to haggle for any imitation designer gear. The cool mountain air can be quite a relief after a day in the sun and there is plenty to do in the evening. The village is full of bars, restaurants and shops and is perfect for younger couples and groups or older couples who enjoy lazy days at the beach and a long evening sampling the famous cocktails.

Calis Beach
A 10 minute drive in the opposite direction will take you to Calis Beach (or you can take a 20 minute water taxi ride from Fethiye harbour). Calis Beach is now a very popular holiday resort on Turkey's "turquoise coast" - and the crystal clear deep blue seas explain that name easily. But for Calis, it is not so easy as "Calis" means work in Turkish and that reveals a little of its history. It hasn't always been a holiday destination - Calis Beach was "Work beach" where a small railway ran across the beach to the jetty with lots of chromium, mined inland. Those days are well in the past now and the only work done on Calis Beach nowadays is applying the sun cream - Calis is reported to have around 300 days of sun each year - and the beach is lined almost from end to end with restaurants serving superb Turkish cuisine and international favourites. The pedestrianised Calis promenade is the place to watch the famous Calis sunsets.

‘Quite simply – Stunning’

A 15 minute drive from Fethiye will take you to the famous blue lagoon of Oludeniz . A dolmus leaves every five or ten minutes. Oludeniz Beach is one of the most stunning locations in the world and the forestry that surrounds it is considered a national park. The beach front has a unique laid back atmosphere and an outstanding beauty that makes for a high percentage of repeat visitors. The beach front is lined with bars, most of which have a open roof where you can relax and watch the paragliders descending from the mountain tops and landing right in front of you. If you are adventurous enough you can also have the thrill of jumping off yourself in Tandem with an experienced paraglider. For the person looking to relax there are daily boat trips from the beach front and a small town with shops and tourism agencies offering Jeep Safari’s to the local turtle beach and Saklikent George.  This is surely one of the best beaches in the world and is the most photographed beach in Turkey. Clean warm turquoise waters that are safe for swimming, countless shades of blue, perfect white shingle sand and nothing but sunshine for most of the year - so come and discover it yourself...
